Prior to that it facilitated as a blacksmith shop, a bus shop, the post office and an auto repair station. The Shops became the central fix it and repository for much of South Woodstock.
Bob passed away on September 24, 1999. Bob's wife, Gail owned the Shops until December 2, 2005 when it was then sold to Debra and Richard Nielsen.
Scranton's Shops celebrated their 30th anniversary in the Spring of 2014. Though the list of dealers (85+) has changed over the 30 years, there are many original dealers who have found Scranton's Shops to be the one Shop that has stood the test of time.
